Brrr, it’s cold!
This is the season when farm work can really become a chore.
Breaking ice or hauling warm water to animals, stuffing their shelters with straw as often as they are in need of extra insulation (which is a lot) and keeping them fed around the clock to up their body temperatures- winter is a busy time.
I love the quiet, snowy mornings.
The warm noses and sweet hay breath that cheerfully greet you and welcome your attention.
It’s the frigid-wind days and freeze-your-eyeballs afternoons when Old Man Winter seems to want to drive into anything and everything, that gets me thinking about warm climates and vacations.
As if we could leave needy creatures behind to bask on a beach somewhere.
But it’s honestly tempting at times.
Then again, winter can be a time of great fun and memories made.
And those furry farm critters have a charm that warm beaches never could. 🙂
