We moved into our new home in April and by the end of May, had a front lawn as well as some trees and shrubs planted.
Our next big project was to create a front porch and back patio.
In previous homes, we’d enjoyed wrap-around porches, sunrooms and decks. They were wonderful.
But I have to say, this front porch is us.
Elevated just enough, facing our beautiful view, deep enough to keep the southwestern summer heat at bay, and high enough to allow winter’s light to warm the front room.
It has all the elements we need.
We then painted the front door and removed the exterior trim on the house, replacing it with rustic stained wood.
Railroad ties framing the yard and flowerbeds, adding more trees and hanging our porch swing completed the exterior that year.
